Why Simulation Training Works

The team at VPS has worked with the Simulation teams from Yale-New Haven Hospital over the past few years. Simulation based training provides system to assess, educate and train learners about various scenarios including violence encounters. This integrated process is usually done on location at your facility.

Violence Prevention Strategies, LLC is interested utilizing simulation to educate learners on the management of aggressive behavior. This innovative form of education allows educators to simulate management of aggression in a practical, safe and controlled environment, while also allowing for analysis and debriefing. This integrated learning process allows for behavior modification by the learner.

A key component of simulation-based education is subsequent “post-experience” analysis and 360° debriefing among participants after simulated scenarios.
By coupling intellectual learning with emotional experiences and group reflection, simulation enhances learners’ comprehension and retention.

Cased based vignettes are used in simulation-based education in healthcare. Examples of such vignettes include a wide range of potential situations, from the management of the agitated pediatric patient to the management of an intoxicated violent patient attacking a staff member.
